Wayne Rooney has put Manchester United on top of the English Premier League table by scoring four goals against Hull City at Old Trafford.

Having scored once in the first half, the 24-year-old striker showed off his brilliant talent during the second half when he scored a hat-trick in the last ten minutes on Saturday.

Rooney took just eight minutes to beat Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill in a rebound after a shot from Paul Scholes was parried.

In 83rd minute, the British national latched onto a Darren Gibson pass, before firing past Myhill from 12 yards.

The British star scored again with a powerful header from Nani's 86th-minute cross.

Finally, he wrapped up the match by scoring in stoppage time. Rooney took his tally for the season to 20 goals.

The 4-0 victory moved Champion Manchester United to the top of the table for the first time since October, two points clear of both rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, the Red Devils have played two more games than Chelsea and one more than Arsenal.
