This Wheel+Chair concept is very innovative, it transforms your own chair into a fully functional wheelchair. By utilizing user’s own chair, the production and transportation cost of this unit will drastically reduce, a wheelchair without a chair. There are still many disabled people who can’t afford a wheelchair, especially in the world’s poorest regions. Even the cheapest wheelchair can be very expensive for them.

Wind Cube modularized wind power system has been designed for urban city lifestyle. The concept consists of 3D wind fields since 2D design is insufficient. The modularized design helps each unit to automatically create a circuit with the power generated by itself. The power then can be used by the families for the purpose of saving energy and reducing carbon footprint.

According to the statistics, the average electricity usage of a household with four members is 324 kilowatt-hours per month. The “Wind Cube” is a 100-watt wind power generator. Each one can generate about 21.6 kilowatt-hours per month. Therefore, one “Wind Cube” can provide 1/15 of the electricity needed by a household per month. With more “Wind Cubes”, households can save more money spent on electricity and show more concern for our earth at the same time!

The concern for vertical axis wind turbines as well and bearing failure is eliminated by the application of Dual Axis Technology (DAT), developed by Urban Green Energy. Turbines appreciably outperform the competition by scattering both horizontal and vertical forces all along the axis length thereby increasing the durability and power production. This reduces the vibration and resistance.
Sanya Skypump has been designed for quick and easy assembly. It’s not a rocket science, user can assembly the turbine in approximately 2 hours, to slip-joint towers and an elegant enclosure for all its electronic components.

U-Haul Emergency Response Conversion Kit has been specifically designed for the American Red Cross to quickly convert an ordinary rental truck into a temporary emergency response vehicle. In a major disaster, thousands of response vehicles are needed in a short period of time, however it usually takes over a week for these Emergency Resnpose Vehicles (ERVs) to arrive on the location while the need for food and water is immediate. The challenge of this project is to find affordable solution that enables the Red Cross to respond to a large scale disaster in a short period of time.

Instead of designing a new generation of ERV, Pengtao Yu, an industrial designer, has thought of utilizing common rental truck into a temporary ERV. Thousands of pre-staged kits can be air shipped to the disaster area in one or two days, volunteers can turn any rental truck into ERV by following detail instructions. These converted vehicles can be used to provide stationary sites for distributing food and water. It will certainly drastically cut down on the time and cost to respond.
U-Haul Emergency Response Conversion Kit is a low cost solution that will increase the capability of American Red Cross to respond faster and better to a large-scale disaster in a short period of time.

O2 Box : Medical Oxygen Generator by La Seconde d’Après
I wish I had O2 Box when I was in Tibet. At altitudes above 16,000 ft., the lack of oxygen can give you headache and nausea. O2 Box concept is a portable oxygen generator that offers outstanding control precision over the amount of oxygen generated and emitted. Designed by La Seconde d’Après, the system is based on the fusion of sodium chlorate that generates oxygen by utilizing a thin replaceable cartridge combined with an induction processing to trigger chemical reaction through heating. The induction process offers a maximized contact zone for the thermal reaction, thus making it extremely reactive oxygen-centered.

Air produced by O2 Box medical oxygen generator is then driven out of the cartridge as exposed aside, and cooled in a copper pipe surrounded by an aluminum heatsink. There two series of fans work together in “push-pull” configuration combining intake and exhaust for maximum efficiency.

mChip : Credit Card Sized Portable Device Detects HIV in Minutes
Can u believe that your credit card is capable of diagnosing HIV at a cost of just $1? It’s true, a portable blood test can be performed and the presence of HIV can be instantly indicated by mChip device designed by the scientists of the University of Columbia in New York. mChip is the device on the size of a credit card specially designed for this purpose. Various tests conducted among various majorities of people revels that the test has a perfect 95 % accuracy on an average. The cost is cheaper hence a large set of diagnostic tests is possible and is accessible even for common people. It makes a large difference in the mentality of people who hesitate to go to clinics or hospitals for testing their blood. A pin-prick of blood is taken and optics is used to read the fluid.
The blood passes through ten detection zones for analysis and returns a positive or negative outcome for HIV or syphilis. The time duration taken is about 15 minutes. A simple color-code similar to pregnancy test is used to display the result. mChip extremely cheap and efficient and serves as a major breakthrough in fighting against HIV throughout the world.

“Freedom for Disabled Divers” Project Offers The Freedom of Mobility Underwater
The physically challenged people do have their own desires and aspirations as others, be it walking, climbing, and swimming and so on. Scuba diving is one of many ways for us to experience the world in which we live in. To help these people have their freedom of underwater mobility, a new “Freedom for disabled divers” concept has been proposed. This project confronts an innovative system that controls buoyancy plus trim under water.
The cool aspect about this project is that the physically handicapped divers who feel chained to their wheelchair can now feel the awesome sense of buoyancy and absolute freedom of movement under water. The design philosophy is pretty simple – design for all. “Freedom for disabled divers” targets a wide group of people with special attention to the physically challenged. This kind of recreational diving is not only giving you a chance to be inspired by the life under the sea but also the social side with all diving communities.
Diving exhibitions, interviews with paraplegic divers, special diving instructions, inspection and mock-up testing were all a crucial part during this project. The result of this outcome was awesome. The physically challenged divers generally need to use their arms in order to swim under water, which does nothing but complicates diving. “Freedom for disabled divers” concept in turn presents a solution, which allows a great control of buoyancy plus body trim under water, thereby increasing the freedom of mobility.

Now Disabled People Can Also Swim Like Micheal Phelps With The Aid Of Neptune
Even though Nelson Cardona from Colombia is physically disabled, he was able to reach up to the top of the Everest with the help of prosthetic legs. After this huge success, if Cardona starts pursuing his another dream to cross the English Channel, do you think using his same prosthetic leg would be an ideal choice? Of course not. Neptune is a simple, stylish and easy adoptable swimming aid concept that can be suited in 3 most usual types of amputations and provide ultimate support for swimming by using a standard silicone liner with a mounted cup to ensure even distribution of force from the tip to the leg. The fin remains attached to the cup that can rotate up to 90°, ensuring efficient breaststroke swimming. Additionally, spontaneous and uncoordinated action is being achieved by the 360° movement of the fin. Adjusting the strength of the fin is done by a slider.

Seahorse Buoys by Simon Spagnoletti
Simon Spagnoletti, an experienced product designer of high end as well as mass products, has unveiled his new concept, Seahorse Buoys. A magnetic anchor sets wave power buoys to be plastered. Internal coils travel down the anchor, as the buoys soar up and down, thus creating a hovering magnetic field. This in turn generates current that is transferred to shore. It is also possible to generate huge amounts of power through the usage of groups of these buoys. The Seahorse line proposes varied models to customers, commercial entities as well as governments. Some of the advanced units including a sensor, security plus wave power buoys are offered solely to large-scale commercial entities as well as government institutions.
