Making Comparisons
In this test
We start by rendering a 3D image of a motorbike in Maxon Cinema 4D R11. Next, we use Adobe Photoshop Lighrom 2.5 to export a series of RAW photos as JPG files. Finally, we simulate the use of various studio effects in real time in Cubase 5.1.
What should I look for?
For both Cinema 4D and Lightroom, the results are given in seconds, and better processors should be able to complete each task faster. For Cubase, the result is the number of compressors used, and better processors should be able to handle more.

We start by using Handbrake and the x264 codec to encode a Blu-ray disc. Next, we start a Windows Live Movie Maker project where we combine photos, music and video. We finish in iTunes 9.0.2, which we use to encode an album of MP3 tracks.
What should I look for?
The time it takes for the processor to perform each test is measured in seconds. Better processors can perform the tasks more quickly.

We launch the games at a resolutio of 800 x 600 pixels, with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering turned off but with details set to maximum. The aim is to test the capabilities of the processor when handling 3D graphics in a game. We execute exactly the same maneuvers in each game and note the average frame rate.
What should I look for?
The scores are given in frames per second (fps), and better processors should have higher framerates.
