Chevrolet has announced the 2011 Volt (http://www.worldcarfans.com/1080916172/chevrolet-volt-unveiled-at-gm-centennial-event) will be priced from $41,000.
While that sounds a tad expensive, a $7,500 tax credit lowers the price to $33,500. If you're still not inclined to pony up the dough, Chevrolet will offer a 36-month lease for $2,500 down and $350 per month.
Owners will receive a 120-volt charging cord, a 240-volt charging station with home installation (limited to the first 4,400 buyers), and five years of OnStar 'Directions and Connections' service (which includes Automatic Crash Response, stolen vehicle assistance and connected navigation). Other goodies include a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile gas engine warranty, and an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty.
As we have previously reported, the Volt features a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery which powers an electric motor that produces 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. Once the car travels past its 40 mile (64 km) electric-only range, a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine activates to recharge the battery.
Currently available for pre-order, at select dealerships (in California, New York, Michigan, Connecticut, Texas, New Jersey and Washington D.C), the first Volts will be delivered "late this year."
