Though plastic IV catheters have been the US standard for almost 40 years, emerging markets like China still use the century-old steel needle sets. Its function as surrogate teacher provides the opportunity to create a safer, less expensive and more comfortable system.

You could guess why the razor can help keep smart sideburns already from the picture. Yap, it features a caliper, enabling the users to choose and adjust the distance between the two razor blades so that they can have satisfying sideburns. This would be particularly popular among those who always demand for accuracy and perfection.

Cleaning the toilet drain? It has got to be stopped. I’ve had enough of it, and from now on, I’ll leave all that to the Carack Drain. It is a blue boy from Oh Kyoung Hea, and his cute head will bob up and down to indicate you to clean the drain once the drain is choked with hair. It also features a sunken drain-trap to gather your body grime and hair so that your work would be easy enough—just lift the blue head and clean it. So with Carack Drain, no more annoying hair-strands in your sight!

Although seems to be incredible, this idea is actually comes with some practical meaning. Its appearance likes a skyscraper, but it is built for trees rather than people. There’re two additional wings at sides to collect polluted air flowing through the trees accordingly generating more oxygen. In order to prevent wasting extra energy, this CO2 scraper using the power generated by the windmills underneath.

Surely no one would mind bumping into the other person if they fortuitously found their Mr. Right or Ms. Right. But who knows whether or not the God is playing a trick on you? So my suggestion is: you should be careful enough when rushing around the corner, or simply pay attention to the Corner’s Communication Warning Sign. Designed by Sanghoon Lee, the corner sign could sense the sound emitted by someone approaching around and then light up to warn the other guys. That’s especially ideal for public places like the hospitals, restaurants and offices, where a large number of people walk around frequently.

Hooray for Cardboard!

This project has a fabulous title: “Can Cardboard Cut It?” That question mark means the whole project is a question for the consumer to answer. My answer, without even sitting on it, is a definite maybe. It’s a hundred percent recyclable, so that’s definitely a good start. Then it all fits together, the stool inside the chair. Two plusses in one! Then What a wonderful feature – it’s finished! Yes, there’s a lovely clear varnish painted over the entire two bits of furniture to enhance and protect.
This entire project is constructed with already-recycled corrugated cardboard and stainless steel threaded rods and bolts. Layers are altered, and negative space is played up to work WITH the material rather than against it. When you’ve got cardboard on your hands, just rock it!
Playful, fabulous, lovely. Designer Tim May knows what’s up.

Timed Morning Bowel Movements

You may be wondering what this glass-alarm has to do with your morning bowel routine. First off, a warm glass of water as soon as you wake up is the perfect way to start your day. It helps in detoxing your body and gets your bowels moving. So there! now to establish relation with the “Revive Glass”…it’s an alarm clock that holds a glass of water. Half hour before your alarm is to go off, the base starts warming up the water, so that you drink it warm enough. The alarm shuts off only when you pick up the glass of water. I totally dig the time being read thru water! Looks awesome!

No Mo Bear Foam

Wha? But doesn’t that mean it’s good? The foam? Well, I’d hope your beer’d have at least a little foam, but nay! You want smooth, tasty, liquid beer, not beer in bubble form. So what do you do? You tip your glass at an angle while you pour the beer inside. Now… what if the beer glass was already tipped, erasing that step in between you, your drink, and that perfect moment when it hits your lips?
Oh man, here it is! It’s the “Cerve-cero” beer mug by Sinapsis Team. They’ve got it going on right here. You can let the mug sit there on its side too, or if you’re in a bar, tell people that this side-sitting is how they should set their mug if they need a refill.
Tasty.

Bird-Shaped Camera

When you think about a concept, there’s always a first use that comes to mind. When I think of a bird-shaped camera, I immediately think of it being used to collect photos of birds. Certainly birds would be more apt to get close to a camera that’s shaped like a bird, yes? They’re comfortable in the eyes of another bird, more than a human, anyway. Well how about this – what if those cameras were instead used to capture images of people disobeying traffic laws on the road?
Scary! Amazing! And oh my goodness, how it could work! You’ve got these birds on the wire, taking photos or video of people committing traffic crimes and wow, the crimes that will be caught. And then, as designer Thomas Valcke notes, there’ll be a collection of people who know that these birds are watching them. Paranoia sets in, as it always does, and these people begin to fear every bird watching them!
Big Brother? No way. Big Bird.

Bending bendy wood! An art that very few venture into, but worth the efforts if the results are going to be as classy as this Houdini chair number 4! The basic shape of this chair is created by first bending two-dimensional plywood by hand around a complexly milled solid wood ring to form the back. To make the curved two dimensional elements stay in place, the scale-like arrangement of the slabs is then glued to the base to produce the self-contained seat shell.

http://www.yankodesign.com/images/design_news/2010/07/05/red_dot6.jpg
Sun Tunnel takes inspiration from the sun, and channelizes natural light to the form of a ceiling lamp. A long tube-like tunnel brings natural daylight from the roof of a building to the ceiling of otherwise electrically lit rooms. The formal mediator for the light being directed from the outside comes in the shape of a fascinatingly organic-looking lamp body. This body functions as an additional diffuser that both enhances the natural light and spreads it in dynamic light reflections across the room. Just like almost any electric lamp, the natural light of this lamp can be directed and adjusted according to user’s needs.
